The more you know...
Here at MAX, we want to provide the most secure and comfortable internet experience as possible. So here are four simple things that insure internet security. Not all or none of the first three items has to happen/be present to insure a secure connection. Item #4 always has to happen to show a page is secure. As a quick reminder, PC.express will not allow you log in if the connection between the browser window PC.express is in and our servers is insecure.

#1 - The Security Alert Window - This is the window that "pops" up right before you enter a sight to alert you that the sight you are entering is a secure environment. Put simply, this means the information sent between the browser window and the web server is "coded" so no one can grab any information being communicated.

#2 - The "Security Padlock" - This is one of the most common and one of the easiest ways to tell if a page is secure. It is located in the bottom left area of the browser. If you see this, everything is secure in the window that the "padlock" appears.

#3 - The HTTPS Heading in the address - HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is a heading to an address that allows the browser (Netscape) to know what type of page/information it is asking for. HTTP is usually for accessing web pages like this (note the .html at the end of the address.) HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol, Secure) lets the browser know to encrypt/code the information it is sending (through the window that has https) and the information it will be receiving (to the window that has https) will be encoded. Like the "padlock," if you see this, everything is secure.

#4 - Checking Page Properties - This is the final way to check for page security. It is a quick and simple process, and here are the steps.

#4 - Step #1 - Locate the View menu in the file menus at the top of the browser.

#4 - Step # 3 - move your coursor down to where it says Page Info is highlighted.

#4 - Step # 4 - Page Info will open in a new window. Here it will tell you the type of connection. Right by the section that says Security, it will tell you directly if the document( page) is secure. So all information will be coded sent between your browser (anything sent through the window that the page checked is in) and our servers.
