| #3 - The HTTPS Heading in the address - HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is a heading to an address that allows the browser (Netscape) to know what type of page/information it is asking for. HTTP is usually for accessing web pages like this (note the .html at the end of the address.) HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol, Secure) lets the browser know to encrypt/code the information it is sending (through the window that has https) and the information it will be receiving (to the window that has https) will be encoded. Like the "padlock," if you see this, everything is secure. |
